The book has been created for admirers of urban art interested in learning about and experiencing cityspace. It contains photos and standardised descriptions of all external works completed by the Urban Forms Foundation in the years 2009–2019 mainly in Łódź (Poland).

Since 2011, this collection has been called the Urban Forms Gallery. It includes one hundred and forty-eight items various genres of art and combinations of artistic media: traditional murals, horizontal murals, portable murals, poetic murals, murals/installations, murals/assemblages, paintings on tram carriages, carving, templates, ceramics, artistic interventions, and various artistic installations.

The Urban Forms Gallery is the result of many activities, among others, associated with the organisation of six festivals of urban art in Łódź as well as cooperation in the framework of numerous other more or less complex private and public initiatives. Therefore, the book contains a separate list (consistent with the numbering of illustrations) of works and events related to their creation, and a list of entities involved in the creation of the works. It includes individual institutions, organisations or individuals directly involved in the cooperation.

We also reconstruct the basic mechanisms of organisation of the artistic undertakings in public space and their impact. At the same time, we seek to explain what a mural is – the manifestation of urban art most often implemented today. We also include indexes that will allow for planning one’s visit individually (the list of artists and the index of places and streets) and bibliography.
